Downtown YMCA Board Update: October 13th

Good Afternoon everyone!

It’s been a crazy past few weeks and budget time 🙂

Looking forward in seeing everyone Thursday, October 23rd at noon.

Van Buren Shelter: Still running some big numbers. 218 women/night and 77 families. This makes our total about 440 individuals/night. Just to give you an idea of the family make up: 20 babies (under 12 months); 50 toddlers (1-4 years old); 25 school age. 75 little ones under the age of 4… they have a lot of energy!

Men’s Overflow Shelter: Since we are at capacity with women and families, we have decided to run the men’s overflow shelter from a hotel. We’re expecting to have around 130 men that will need a warm bed once the cold weather hits.

40 West Long and Franklin Station Permanent Supportive Housing: We are still running close to 100% occupancy at both location.

Membership: We didn’t have a particularly good month in September. On a monthly budget of $68,000, we landed around $60,000. It puts us down around $15,000 year to date. We have a new Corporate Membership plan that we’re starting to unveil in November. Hopeful this will make us some of the loss.

Welcome to Jean Fry our new Director of Member Impact and to Brian Gill our new Associate Aquatics Director! They both have had a great first week — looking forward in working with them.

Ridestrong!: This fun two hour indoor cycling ride benefits cancer survivors in our Livestrong program. If you haven’t made your board goal yet for 2014, this is a great opportunity. Even if you don’t want to ride, you can become a Virtual Rider. Click here for more information.

See you all next week!

Reminder: Next Board Meeting is Thursday, October 23rd at noon.
